Program Description

Event Details

The NW Iowa Dyslexia Support Group meeting includes a presentation on a topic related to dyslexia and time to connect with other parents or educators interested in learning more about dyslexia and how to support dyslexic children and struggling readers. The facilitators for the discussion are Emily Kramer and Renee Saarloos. Please sign up individually for the programs that you wish to attend. Registration is requested but not required.

Join us to learn more about the fascinating brain of dyslexic students and what their brains do well!  In addition, we will address how to help dyslexics identify and develop their skills–a crucial aspect in gaining self-confidence and self-esteem.  We will be looking at dyslexic strengths as described in the book The Dyslexic Advantage by Brock and Fernette Eide, researchers with decades of experience working with dyslexic individuals, as well as The Dyslexia Empowerment Plan, by Ben Foss, a highly successful dyslexic entrepreneur.  It is not necessary to read either of these books before attending this meeting. Parents, caregivers, and teachers are all encouraged to attend. This program was originally scheduled for December but program was cancelled due to the weather.
