It’s a long way from the North Sea island of Terschelling to the Iowa prairie, but it was worth the trip. Enjoy the story of two dozen Terschellinger families that emigrated in the late 1860s, landing first in Illinois, before moving on to Sioux County. The migration was triggered by the “Ikea Effect”—which has nothing to do with Swedish furniture! You might pick up some family history research tips as we make our way from Nederland to Iowa.

J. H. (“Jay”) Fonkert, CG, will be presenting this program at the Sioux Center Public Library.
