Program Description

Event Details

Explore the exciting medium of watercolor in this 6-week fun, hands-on class. Students will create a variety of paintings using basic watercolor techniques. We will cover the uses of washes and glazes, lifting, and how to create depth and contrast within a painting. We will also learn about color mixing, color harmony and compositional basics. All techniques will be demonstrated with personal attention given to each student.

This class is geared for students who have some experience painting with watercolor and would like to continue their development as watercolor artists.

Instructor Judy Thompson is a professional, award winning artist who loves to teach watercolor. She is a member of the Great Plains Watercolor Society, a signature member of the Iowa Watercolor Society and an approved teaching artist with the South Dakota Art Council. See her work and learn more at: judythompsonwatercolors.com.

The class fee of $75 excludes supplies. Students will need to bring watercolor paints, a palette, watercolor paper (140# cold or hot press), sketch pad and pencil, drawing board (to use as backing for watercolor paper), a container for water, brushes (flat and round), masking tape, and masking fluid (optional).
