Program Description

Event Details

Start with Strength is a 4-week series where we’ll start your New Year focusing on and perfecting your strength training form. Each week will cover a different movement type starting with squats, then moving into upper body, hinges/deadlifts, & finally core. What makes this series unique is the how. You’ll spend the first part of each week learning how to properly perform that week’s movement type with education and movement prep. Then LET’S MOVE! Take the how and begin to connect what you’ve learned in a workout that focuses on different ways to perform that week’s movement. This series is great for anyone looking to improve their strength training form and build their workout library with different exercises you can do at home or in a gym. Sign up for the whole series or choose the session that you need more help with. Register through NCC at https://nwicc.edu/events/start-with-strength-all-4/

Ashton has been an athlete/fitness enthusiast her entire life. As a multi-sport athlete in high school, she went on to play softball at Dakota State University where she graduated with her Bachelor’s in Exercise Science. She completed her Master’s from the University of South Dakota in Sport Facility Management while starting her 7-year career at the Nishna Valley Family YMCA in Atlantic, IA. While there, Ashton oversaw the fitness and youth sport departments while also teaching classes, coaching programs, and serving as a personal trainer. Ashton is a certified strength and conditioning specialist, a title she has retained for 10 years. After a 4-year battle with infertility, Ashton gave birth to her first son in 2019, and her outlook on how mamas are told to train during and after pregnancy completely changed as she met her own complications. In 2021, Ashton gave birth to her second son at 16 weeks gestation. It was then that she began Resilient Mama Fitness & Lifestyle because of the gap she saw in the industry as it pertains to women, fitness, & motherhood. She strives to educate mamas on the inner strength their body possesses through breath and the inner core unit and how to apply that knowledge to create stability and function in the body. She wants every mama to feel empowered to make adjustments to their fitness and daily living in order to support themselves no matter if they are longing to hold a baby in their arms or years removed from having babies. This Spring, Ashton joyfully gave birth to her third son and has been spending the summer soaking up the busyness of motherhood and family life. Ashton is a stay-at-home mom living on her husband’s family acreage outside of Granville. Besides fitness, she enjoys gardening, canning, cooking, crafting, home decorating, long baths, and binge-watching Netflix.
