Want to learn how to make a basic vegetable fermentation as well as a basic sourdough bread? Tia Murphy will discuss what a sourdough starter is and how to maintain one in the refrigerator or on the kitchen counter. She will present a brief history of these traditional foods and why our ancestors used these methods of preservation and cooking. Attendees will receive a sourdough starter and some product samples. Tia will make one dough that will have to rise before baking and will also make one quart of fermented veggies. Attendees will not be making the sourdough.
Tia graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor in Environmental Science. Her formal training and education as a Holistic Health Professional have come about, for the most part, over the past 14 years. She studied Herbalism at Heart of Herbs and received her Holistic Health Certification from Trinity School of Natural Health. The majority of her experience and education, however, has formed in daily interactions with people that are trying to live their best, strongest, and most joy-filled lives. She encourages people by teaching and showing them how to heal themselves through food, nutrition, environment, and thought. She has been making fermented vegetables and sourdough bread over the course of this journey and loves showing others how easy and beneficial this can be for themselves and their whole family.
The registration deadline is April 7. Must be 18 unless accompanied by an adult.
