Servant Leadership in 2024: Leading with Purpose
Many current organizations are taking renewed interest in the traditional concept of ‘Servant Leadership.’ Servant Leadership involves the understanding that the most effective leaders serve their people, by supporting, listening, encouraging, and maximizing the unique potential of each individual. Sally Percy describes this people-centric approach: “Today…people have a lot more choice about how, when and where they work… Servant Leadership ensures that the worker has the opportunity for growth, productivity and workplace satisfaction…this will have a positive impact on their relationships with customers and on the performance of the organization as a whole.” During this engaging, interactive program, we will explore what Servant Leadership—at its most impactful—looks like in today’s organizations. We will start by identifying the top ten characteristics of Servant Leaders, then explore the differences between Command Leadership and Servant Leadership. Finally, each participant will take a closer look at themselves, via a self-assessment of the key traits of Servant Leaders.
Brenda Clark Hamilton is a dynamic keynote speaker who offers fresh perspectives in leadership, communication, team-building, change management, and offering one’s personal best to life, relationships, and career. Brenda launched her speaking business in the fall of 2005 by offering training to businesses in her northern Iowa community. She spoke at her first statewide conference in January of 2008. Since that time, she has become a nationally-recognized conference speaker and audience favorite, keynoting at several hundred events in twenty-four states.
