Program Description

Event Details

Dave will talk about his new book and share his love of poetry. He will read some of his poems and also talk a bit about where he finds poems and what makes a poem a poem (with some illustrations).  He will also say a bit about what makes a bad (poor) poem.

David Schelhaas grew up in Edgerton, Minnesota, and after graduating from Southwest Christian High School, attended Dordt College, Calvin College and Florida State University.  He taught high school and college English for over forty years, retiring from teaching in 2008.  He has written a book on word histories, Angling in the English Stream; a memoir, The Tuning of a Heart; and three collections of poetry:  The God of Material Things, Illuminated Manuscript, and Tongues that Dance.

Registration is helpful, but not required.
