Program Description

Event Details

Join Remsen native, author Hank Kohler, as he tells his adventures up and down the Mississippi in a canoe! Hank will share stories from his book One4Water: Paddling North to Polar Bears and South to Alligators with a slideshow of pictures. Hank will have time for questions and will be selling and signing copies of his book at the event.

Hank Kohler here. In 2021, I paddled over 1,900 miles from west central Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico. The uniqueness of the journey which I named One4Water was that I left from the same starting point where, in 1979, I canoed to Hudson Bay. I was in my twenties then and the trip was really just for the challenge and adventure. Forty two years later, the journey south was for much more. Through donations and book sales, we have raised tens of thousands of dollars for the youth conservation programs at the National Mississippi River Museum and Aquariam in Dubuque. I’m not a scientist; I’m a storyteller and am honored to be able to share tales of One4Water at your library and explain its mission and how the book came to be.

Registration helpful, but not required.
