Learn from professional artist Judy Thompson how to design your paintings for optimum impact. This workshop provides you with tools to analyze your art objectively and to give you a variety of artistic approaches which will bring new life to your drawings and paintings.

This class will help you answer the following questions:

  • What makes a great painting great?
  • What should I do with my backgrounds?
  • Where should I put my focal point?
  • What are effective color choices?
  • How can use design elements to my advantage?

During each class session, you will learn a concept and then apply it to a small painting done in class. At the end of the course, you will use your own reference material to create your own composition. Register through the Orange City Public Library website. Registration fee: $75.  https://www.orangecitylibrary.org/event/composition-basics-designing-your-paintings-for-success/2023-02-27/

This class is intended for artists with some painting experience. Students must bring their own sketchbook (9×12” or larger), pencil & eraser, ultra fine point Sharpie marker, and painting supplies (Please, no oil paints).
